As 2023 disappears behind us, and we get stuck into preparing for 2024, it's a time of reflection, and also of looking to the future.
When Locky and I started Risky Rollers, it was as a creative outlet for our love of the hobby, and filling a niche for Australian 40k content we saw as open. With a new focus to run our own events and Laurence joining the team we moved into the live-streaming space, which allowed us to ramp up content production -seeing as many as three videos a week!
Alongside 15 events across the year, a championship series across the competitive season, and travelling as a group for a host of events up and down the coast we've both played and played host to loads of competitive 40k, and had a great time doing it.
Going into 2024 involves a reflection on where we've come from, and an evaluation of what we need to carry forward. Locky's had some exciting personal developments, and as such is taking a step back from Risky Rollers. The increased content production hasn't seen the reception we'd hoped, however the events and community support has been fantastic.
As such, going forward we've got a few new projects, and some adjustments to Risky Rollers as a whole:
We're focusing more effort on the local community, stepping up our regular club days (now the first and third Sunday of every month), and hosting a full calender of events, from entry-level casual tournaments to premium competitive experiences.
A new studio is being constructed - the content we're putting out is changing, and in many ways moving back to our roots, with two new podcasts launching at the end of January and produced content once again stepping up, although we'll still have occasional game livestreams happening, and loads of event coverage.
The final big change is our new home online: this website plays host to our event and club calender, event ticket sales, merch, an ongoing hobby blog, and allows us to expand and organise in new ways going forward.
Laurence and I couldn't be more excited for everything the new year brings, and to share it with all of you!
